Stacker looked well in pale blue Sicilian cloth, with cream lace yoke; Miss Standish, dainty white embroidered muslin with beaded strappings threaded with black velvet ribbon, white straw hat bound with black and wreathed with pale pink roses; Miss Bedford, white lace insertioned muslin, burnt straw hat with shaded pink roses; Miss Brown, tussore silk, black chip straw hat with red and pink roses; Miss Brewster, dainty white lace insertioned muslin, navy hat; Miss Mclvellar, white linen costume; Miss Blundell, white muslin, chijT straw hat with pink roses and blacik velvet ribbon; Miss Evans, tussore silk, burnt straw and navy hat; Miss F. Horticultural Show —ln the Theatre Royal last Thursday the New Plymouth Horticultural iS'ociety held their annual show, which was a great success, the sweet peas and carnations being a specialty. In the decorated table class there were Sixteen entries. The first prize was won by Mrs. Wallach, a pretty violet table; the second, Mrs. J. H. Frethey, scarlet flowers; while Mrs. N. Allen and Miss Matthews tied for third honors. The decorated mantelpiece was won by Miss J. Curtis, the flowers being red, white and pink ramblers. Miss Kirkby came second with gaillardias and cori. Amongst those there, I noticed Mrs. S. Orbell, who looked handsome in black and violet floral hat; Miss P. Whitton, white muslin, violet hat; Miss Godfrey grey costume, black hat; 'Miss C. Chanev, cream costume, pale blue hat; Mrs. Heard, white linen costume, pale pink floral hat. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs. Phil Wright, who has been the guest of her brother, Mr. H. Stocker, New Plymouth, leaves on Monday for her home in Dimedin. Messrs. Stanley and Sidney Paul are paying a visit to their mother in New Plymouth, the former having just returned from a trip to Australia. Their visit to their home was very short; they left again by the mail train this ' morning. . The Rev. and Mrs. Reeve, Auckland, are the guests of the Rev. Mr. ami Mrs. F. G. Evans, the former having come to New Plymouth to take part in the anniversary services of St. Mary's Church. Miss Carte leaves New Plymouth on •Monday morning by the mail train for Manukau to visit her sister who resides there. Mr. G. Stokes left last night by the s.s. Rarawa for Auckland. Miss D. Skinner is the guest of Mrs. W. Skinner, New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. C. 11. Burgess leave by the s.s. Rarawa on Monday night for Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Quilliam are on a short visit to Nelson.
