. (From Our Own Correspondents.) i Stratford, Last Night' The show was wound up with a din-'*; ner, at which there was a large atttn- 'ij dance. There was a lengthy toast list, "; during which visitors said many nioe-li things abojit the show, and the success 1 it had been, and predicted a prosperous ";j future for the association. And their opinions are universally endorsed. Two men named H. Watson and J. j* Miles appeared before the S.M. this J morning to answer the charge of behav- "J ing in as offensive manner in the train' between Te Wera and Stratford. The | former pleaded not guilty, and after 3 evidence was taken, a fine of 10s and ,? costs was imposed, whilst Miles wa»S fined £1 and costs. 9 Heavy rainfall in the Puniwhakau Jj district is reported, and as a result several washouts have occurred. ■' Now that the show is a thing of the : past the public are turning their attention to the Bayly Memorial Scholarship | sports, which are being held on day here. It is to be hoped that the movement, which is a provincial oiu»jjf will receive the support from all parts' of the district that it is deserving. ?
