TARANAKI HOSPITAL BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held yesterday. There were present:— Messrs. P. C. J. Bellringcr (chairman), G. W. Browne, W. Outfield, E. Maxwell, M. J. Macßeynolds, C. Andrews, J. R. Hill. J. Brown, D. H. M'Donald, and C. O'Sullivan.
Dr. E. A. Walker, medical superintendent of the hospital, reported that during the month 34 patients had been admitted, 33 had been discharged, 3 had died, and there were 39 remaining. Twenty-nine operations were performed. Mrs. A. Bayly, matron in charge ol the Old Peoples' Home, stated that there were still 28 males and 6 females in the institution. Discipline had been excellent during the month.
The Town Clerk notified the Board that the cost of extending the watermain to the new site for the Old Peoples' Home would be £502 for fourinch cast-iron pipes, and £175 for one and a half inch wrought iron pipes.— The matter was held over. The names of Miss E. Carruth/ol Mt. Eden, and Miss L. Rood, of Napier, were added to the outside probationers' list.
Accounts amounting to £5Bl 8s 9d were passed for payment.
