THE GOVERNOR AT FEILDING
BOY SCOUTS' FIELD DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Feilding, Last Night. His Excellency the Governor visited Feilding to-day, and attended the Boy Scouts' field day. He was met "at th» borough boundary by the Feilding Mounted Rifles, and escorted to the race- ; course, where the field day was being held. After receiving an address of welcome from the Mayor and councillors, His Excellency expressed his pleasure at being present, especially at a BoyScouts' gathering. He acknowledged the welcome from the citizens and their expressions of loyalty to the King and Empire. Addressing the Scouts, he said the movement was a great Imperial idea, one which would help materially; ) in solidifying the defence of the Empire.' The Scout laws of discipline, chivalry, ''> tihe development of the faculty for observation, would develop the character. The Boy Scouts were playing a useful part in the moral and physical development of the Empire. Before leaving, His Excellency said he was immensely pleased with the Scout items he had seen, and would be pleased to visiii FeiTding on a future occasion. During his viait to this district this week Lord Islington is staying for three nights at "Highden," the residence of the late Hon. W. J. Johnston, and is the guest of Mrs. Johston.
