STATE LENDING DEPARTMENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, December 3. In the Assembly, in moving the second' reading of the Savings Bank Act Amending Bill, the Treasurer stated that the credit fonder system had more than justified itself. Of £2,500,000 advanced, only 100 borrowers were in default, and £l5B represented the interest. The Bill proposes to extend the system in order to enable people to build their own homes.
