CHEAPER MEAT FOR AUSTRIA

PROPOSED REMOVAL OF IMPORT RESTRICTIONS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received' 2, 8.55 p.m. Vienna, December 2. The Chamber, by 223 votes to 20G, adopted a motion in favor of the unrestricted entry of transoceanic meat. The debate revealed that the Austrian Government was bound by a secret agreement which did not permit of import without Hungary's consent. Austria is now of opinion that Hungary sanctioned the importation of ten thousand tons of Argentine meat. Hungary denies this, and savs it agreed to only two thousand tons. It is doubtful whether the Austrian Parliament's decision will result in meat being imported.
