ALLEGED UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT.
I To the Editor. Sir, —What is the committee of the New Plymouth Horticultural Society going- to do with regard to the case of a leading member who is alleged to have "faked" an exhibit handed in by him at the Waitara Show last week, in a prizewinning competition? This is a matter which should be sifted to the bottom without another day's delay, and neither the reputation nor influential connections of the reputed offender should shield him from the consequence of his deceit. If he is found to have been guilty of fraud, immediate steps ought to be taken to expel him from the society, make his identity public, and get him barred at every other show. In the meantime it is not generally known who the person is, and suspicion attaches to others who sent exhibits to Waitara. Pending action by the committee, it is suggested that members who feel aggrieved by its apparent indifference had better refrain from exhibiting at next week's show, and let the reason be made clear. The writer will certainly not assist while such a serious reflection upon the society remains undealt with.—l am, etc., A LOVER OF FLOWERS.
