THE TARANAKI SHOW.

OPENING TO-DAY. With the weather forecasted favorably by the Government meteorologist and the town filling up rapidly with visitors, the prospects for a big gathering at the 'Show seems assured. In connection with the programme of events, it is to be hoped the executive of the Agricultural Society will see to it that the timetable is adhered to strictly, as any alteration (not unknown in tlie'past, by the way) causes considerable inconvenience and dissatisfaction to the public and all concerned. In these days each day is a ''people's day," for there are ring competitions, side-shows, and so on, going merrily on the first as well as the second day. There are many arguments in favor of seeing the Show on the first day, the chief being that then everything looks fresher, whilst there is also the advantage that, if particularly interested in any section, or if one has not seen as much of the show as one would like, there is the second clay to fall back on. The Agricultural Society does good work for New Plymouth, and all it asks is that the people make a point of attending the show, at which, if anywhere, the public easily gets more than its money's worth.
