REV. OSBORNE AND NO-LICENSE.
To the Editor. Sir,—l admit "Teetotaller's" claim to being "one of the old fashioned sort." This is evident from his use of a very old fashioned method in newspaper correspondence, that of diverting attention from the main isue. Mr. Osborne's absolute devotion to duty and consistency of life are too well-known to need advertising over a "nom de plume." Scores in this town are ready to acknowledge such kindly acts as that mentioned by your correspondent and I among them, having had experience of his kind and helpful interest on my arrival in New Plymouth two years ago. That is not the point at issue. This is: An evil exists which threatens the life of our sons, the life of the State. We want to find the best remedy. This can only be found by free discussion and the letting in of light on the subject from' ail sides. This discussion need not lessen one's personal admiration for those who hold different views. Nor will the branding of one's opponents as pirates, bigots or zealots, help matters.—l am, etc -> E. BISHOP.
