ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
EXPRESSMAN INJURED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. An expressman named James Craig, fell from his express this evening and was picked up unconscious ' and taken to the hospital. His injuries appear to be of a serious nature.
FOUND DEAD IN BED. Napier, Tuesday. The police have received information from Tarawera that Duncan Mackay, proprietor of the Hot Springs Hotel, was found dead early this morning with a revolver beside him.
A ROAD FATALITY.
Dargaville, Tuesday. William Parker, aged 50, a gumdigger, was walking from Kaihu to Kai Iwi on Saturday might, when he was knocked down by a passing horseman. His mate subsequently found him on the road, but thinking he was intoxicated left him. He was discovered on Sunday morning, and yesterday afternoon he was brought down to the hospital, where he died last evening. An inquest was opened this morning and adjourned till Monday next. The police are investigating the matter, and charges are to 'be laid against three horsemen alleged to be responsible for the fatality.
RUN OVER BY A TRAIN. Levin, Tuesday. At the inquest on M'Guinn, who was run over by a train near Shannon, the evidence clearly showed that the victim was under the influence of drink. The verdict stated that deceased met his death by accident, being run over by a train. The coroner commended the railway officials for the manner in which they had acted.
