Silver, 25 7-10 d. i Tin.—Spot £l6l 17s Cd; three months £l7O 2s 6d. Wool.—Competition for good sorts is keen in all European centres. Prices firm and unchanged. To date 32,936 bales have been offered and 29,334 sold, 1 including the Gear clip, top price 14% d, average ll%d; Clifford, 14d and 13d; Koon, lid and 9%d. Angle steel, £7; tram rails, £5 is 6d; wire netting, 60 per cent., 2% per cent. off list. WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. ' Wellington, Monday, i The second series of wool sales at Wellington opened this morning. There was a large attendance of buyers. The catalogue contained 8300 bales. The feature of the opening sales was the strong competition for the higher classes of wool, which in some cases were one farthing to a halfpenny better than atj previous sales at the beginning of this month. Yorkshire was a strong competitor for medium, qualities, which were 3n about a par with the previous' sale. Continental wools were in keen demand, also low grade wools suitable for rugs and blankets. Speculators competed! freely at the opening, but prices were beyond them.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. Following is the High Commissioner's cable under date London, November 26: Mutton.—No alteration in the market since last week, viz., Canterbury 4}4d, North Island 4d. River Plate is in large supply and being strongly pushed for sale. Lamb.—The market is firm, Australian 5i,4d. Beef.—The market is steady and there is better demand. New Zealand hinds 3y 3 d, fores 2%d. Butter.—The market is firm, with improved demand. The shipment of butter ex Athenic arrived in good condition. New Zealand choicest 112s, Australian 108s, Danish 118s, Siberian 105s. Cheese.—The market is quiet, but holders are firm. The shipment of cheese ex Athenic arrived in good condition. Finest New Zealand cheese white 565, colored 575. Hemp.—The market is dull. Expect no immediate change in the (hemp market. New Zealand good fair on spot per ton £2l 10s, fair grade £2O 10s, fair current Manila £l9 10s, forward shipments about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 23,000 bales. Kauri Gum.—The market is slightly weaker with less demand. Ordinary to fair three-quarter scraped £8 ss, fair half-scraped £5 ss, brown fair half to three-quarter scraped' 85s, brown pickings common to good 47s 6d, bush fair to goot pale and amber scraped £8 ss. Wool.—The market remains firm.
