SHORT-HANDED POSTAL STAFF. Sydney, November 26. Owing to the heavy Christmas rush ten thousand letters, which should have gone by the English mail, have been delayed at Sydney Post Office as the result of the staff being short-handed. THE MOUNT LYELL MINE. Melbourne, November 26. At the half-yearly meeting of the Mount Lyell Company the chairman stated that it was difficult to forecast the trend of the metal markets. If the steps taken by the larger copper producers in America and Europe to curtail output were maintained with any degree of inconsistency they might look for some improvement in prices.
