DAMAGE RUNS INTO THOUSANDS. 3y Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, November 24. The Broome storm was the worst on record. It commenced on Friday and raged throughout Saturday with great violence. The estimate;! damage ashore is valued at £20,1100, besides damage to buildings, trees and fi-nces. Telegraph and telephone poles were levelled in all directions. About seventy luggers and other small craft, were piled on the beach, many damaged beyond repair. Thirty or forty others sank at their moorings. Crave fears are entertained for the seventy or eighty others unaccounted for, though it is hoped a proportion at least sought refuse in the creeks along the coast. Rescue parties are out searching. So far as is known twelve lives were lost, including two whites. Farre! 1 and Street.

A TREMENDOUS RAINFALL. PEOPLE FLEEING IN ALL DIRECTIONS. Received 25, 12.10 a.m. Broome, November 25. The rainfall for four days totalled eleven inches in the town, and it devastated all foliage. The death-roll now stands at forty, all lost at sea; and unless many boats turn up, the number will be increased by Saturday. People are fleeing in all directions from falling roofs and buildings.
