Wellington, November 24. The High Commissioner cables under date London November 23: — The wool sales have commenced and the market is firm on account of small supply. Trade is good and likely to continue so. Merinos and crossbreds are firm at the closing rates of last sale. Eigtheen thousand bales of New Zealand wool are catalogued. Estimated values of New Zealand wool at the close of the fifth series of colonial wool sales held in London on October 8 were as follows:—Superior merino, 13d to 15y 2 d; medium merino, 10y 2 d to 12y»d; inferior merino, 7'/«d to lOd; fine crossbreds, all grades, 13'/.d to Hid; medium crossbreds, all grades, lld to 13d ; coarse crossbreds, all grades, B'/fed to lO'/^d.
AUCKLAXD WOOL SALES. Auckland, Xovember 23. At the wool sales to-day a total catalogue of 0915 bales were offered, which is slightly less than last year. Generally speaking fine sorts showed a -decrease of Id to 2'/ 2 d, but the coarser crossbred wools, which formed by far the greatest proportion of the offerings, showed an increase of 14d to y 2 d. The range of prices was as follows: Superfine halfbred wool, lid to 12d; fine halfhml merino. ny,d to liy 2 d; medium halfbred, lOd to 10y 2 d; superfine crossbreds, !)d to lly 2 d; medium crossbreds, Sy.d to lOd; coarse and inferior crossbreds, 7y 4 d to B%d; bellies and pieces, Gd to 9d; Shropshires, 9d to lOd. L. A. XOLAX AXD CO. Messrs. L. A. Xolan and Co. report for week ending Xovember 23, 1910: Poultry—.We have to report a large entry, about 300 birds being penned. There is a good demand and all classes found keen competition. We quote: Hens, 2s to 2s 9d; cockerels, Is 5d to 2s 4d; roosters, Is 3d to 3s 3d; chickens, 9d to Is 3d; ducks. 2s Id to 2s od; ducklings, to 2s 7d; turkey hens. 6s to Gs 3d; gobblers, 8s 6d to 9s; guinea fowls, 3s Gd to 4s per pair. In the mart a large quantity of household furniture sold well. Strawberries and gooseberries have come to hand. Gooseberries, Gs 3d to Gs Gd; strawberries, 9d to Is; peas, lid to Is Id peck; cabbage, Is 6d sack.
