WAITARA WATERWORKS LOAN
APPROVED BY THE RATEPAYERS. The Waitara Borough Council yesterday took a poll of the ratepayers upon the proposal to borrow under the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, the sum of £20,000, being for the construction of water works for tiie supply of pure water for the use of the inhabitants of the borough and the shipping in the port of Waitara. £10,000; construction and improvement of streets, i' 3000: construction of drainage and : -istation works within the borouah. £ 11:00. The loan is at the rate of 3'/ a ')tr cent., repayable in 30%' years, and", n-~ security for the loan, the borough nl- Iges a special rate of a penny ana n'ne-thirty-seconds of a penny in the pn-'iid. The proposal was carried by ]."P. votes to 60. There were four -informal votes. The majority in favor was 98, and the proposal was carried.
