In the Assembly the Premier gave notice of his intention to move during the session that Government business take 1 precedence, and also that the House meet at 2 p.m. anstead of 4.30 p.m. FEDERAL DEFENCE BILL. Received 23, 1.40 a.m. Melbourne, November 22. In the House of Representatives the Judiciary Bill, giving Parliament powei to appeal to the High Court to test the constitutionality of Bills, passed all its stages. Mr. Land presented a petition from the Evangelical Council of New South Wales, protesting against the lack of provision in the compulsory clauses in the Defence Bill for the children of parents with conscientious objections.
THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. Received 23, 1.49 a.m. Melbourne, November 22. The Federal Government has cabled to the Imperial Government that May 22 will be suitable for the opening of the Imperial Conference.
PROGRESSIVE WORKS POLICY.

The Government contemplates raising a loan of £6.007.000 to carry out a pro gressive works policy.
