THE TARANAKI SHOW

ARRANGEMENTS PROGRESSING.

A meeting of the Grounds Committee was held yesterday afternoon to make arrangements in connection with the forthcoming show to be held on Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

The new exhibitors' entrance to the grounds near Mr. Penn's residence on the Avenue Road will be open for the convenience of stock, implements and vehicles.

New dog benches are being erected under the supervision of the stewards, Judging by the keen enquiry for schedules the dog section gives every indication of being a strong and attractive feature.

An innovation is to be made this year with regard to private vehicles and motor cars. These will be admitted through the Avenue-road entrance, and a stand has been provided at the south end of the ring, where they will be drawn up in line. A charge of 2s 6d will be made for all such vehicles.

A new class has been included in the schedule in the fat cattle and freezing section. The class will be for the best bullock, any age, most suitable for freezing. From what can he gathered the fat cattle section promises to be a large one and should constitute one of the features of the Show.

Milking classes, especially the Jerseys, are filling strongly. Outside competition will be keen, entries having been received from as> far north as Auckland.

All intending visitors to the Show should bear in mind that the usual liberal train arrangements have been made, including special stock trains to and from the town. Exhibitors are reminded that entries definitely close with the secretary on Saturday evening next, and it is specially requested that they be forwarded early as possible as the time for compilation of the catalogue is very short.
