Mr. Hughes lias received from the Canadian Government a cable regretting that the Commonwealth is unable to accept the route for the Vancouver mail service as suggested by Canada, namely, Vancouver to Sydney, with Auckland as a port of call. The cable adds that Canada favors the inclusion of the New Zealand port, but is willing that a call should 'oe made at another Australian port. In view of the impasse thus reached, it lias been decided to await the arrival of Sir James Mills in Australia.
