Poultry.—At our mart on Saturday.; we had our usual good entry of birds, all our pens being well filled. Ducklings are easing off in supply now, there being still a good demand. Prices were as follows:—Hens, good young, 2s to 2s Gd, old Is 8d to Is lOd; ducklings, lOd to 2s, according to quality; Ihens and chicks, 9s; game liens, 2s 2d; cockerels (very few in), 2s Id to 2s 6d; chicks, lOd; gobblers, 7s Gd; turkey hen, ss; ducks, young 2s 9d, old 2s. Sundries sold at usual rates.
Fruit.—The market has been busy again this week, although the quantities of peas and strawberries arriving have been smaller, owing to wet weather at the orchards. Prices were as follows: Tongan bananas, green 13s 6d, ripe 3%d to 3y 2 d; Fiji green bananas, 18s; Sydney oranges, bushel cases 16s, smaller 12s; New Zealand lemons, ss; American, apples (poor quality), 8s to 9s; Tas-i manian Stunners, 7s to 9s; strawberries, Is Id to Is 2>/gd per lb. box; gooseberries, 5s 9d per 24 lb. box; tomatoes, 9d to lOd, small 5d to 6d; cucumbers, 4s to 5s 6d per doz; green peas, Is to Is 2d per peck; cabbage, 2s fid; lettuce, 2s 9dper case; onions, 3s 9d; cauliflower, 6s; new potatoes, 21s 6d per cwt. Furniture. —On Wednesday we held a successful clearing sale of furniture on account of Mrs. Edwards, in Dawson street.
