The North Taranaki Cricket Association's Saturday competition was advanced another stage on Saturday, in lovely weather. SENIOR GRADE. UNITED SERVICE v. INGLEWOOD. The United Service team journeyed to Inglewood for this match. The weather was fine, and Service, having its strongest team in the field, was looked upon as the likely winner, but the team failed to fulfil expectations. Inglewood battea first, and made 158. Six bowlers were tried, Woods and Dinniss being responsible for most of the wickets. The fielding of Service was poor, as shown by the number of extras (16) and the fact that several easy catches were missed. Six Inglewood players reached double figures, the first man in, Pullen, being highest with 47. Service opened badly, Bowleg being clean bowled after making one run, while two more wickets fell without the addition of a run, and things looked very bad when eight wickets were down for six. Hoby's 12 not out stands out in a remarkable score-sheet, which shows five "ducks" and totals 23.
In contrast to the opposing side's display in the field there were no extras. The bowlers had a day out, Mcßae's average being three for eight, and Kinsella's six for 15. The following were the scores:—

Thursday. The result of the match was given ;'.s a draw, the totals marked for each innings, in both score books, being 50 runs. Closer examination of both the books, however, shows that Athletic really won the match by one run. The runs put down to the batsmen and those given in the bowling analyses agree on this point. The matter is being brought before the North Taranaki Cricket Association.
