STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF NEW ZEALAND.
The indications at the Standard Oil Company of New Zealand's bore on the Carririgton Road are, the head driller (Br. O'Dowda) reports, very promising. The well is down to a depth of 3180 feet, and the pressure of gas at the bottom is particularly, strong, sending cuttings 50ft. to 100 ft. up the casing. Drilling is proceeding in good sandrock country.
VISIT OF MR. J. D. HENRY. Messrs. Watkins and Fox are in receipt of a cable from' Mr. J. D. Henry, the well-known petroleum expert and writer on the subject, stating that he will leave London for New Plymouth by, the P. and O. steamer Mantua on December 2. It is understood that Mr. Henry represents two or three wealthy financial groups who are interested fif oil ventures.
