RIFLE SHOOTING
The Guards' scores in Thursday's triangular match also counted in a handicap shoot for cash prizes and Mr. Avery's trophy. The shoot also counted as the second for the company's champion belt, Private Nichols, with 193, being in the lead, closely followed by Col.Sergeant Hartnell (191), with Private Hill, Corporal Bruce, and Sergeant Oliver following in that order.
On Thursday next the Guards will fire two matches. The seniors will meet the Stratford Rifle Club at Stratford, and the second team will fire a match with the Waitara Rifles on the local range. Both matches are to be fired over the 200, 500 and <SOO yards ranges.
