COMMONWEALTH STANDS ALOOF. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Lomlon, November 17. In conseqeunce of the Commonwealth refusing to participate in the Festival of Empire, Lord Plymouth is approaching the Agents-General with a view to the various States utilising the offer of a large area of free space with a maximum cost of £20,000 to cover lighting. Lord Plymouth, not desiring that Australia alone of the Dominions should not be represented, will become personally responsible for £7OOO, the cost of erection of a copy of the Commonwealth Parliament House.
