A DREADNOUGHT FOR JAPAN. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 18, 9.30 p.m. London, November 18. Japan has ordered, from a firm of London shipbuilders, a Dreadnought cruiser of 27,000 tons.
NAVAL OFFICER DISMISSED. Received 18, 11.20 p.m. London, November 18. Lieut. Dixie, navigating officer of the cruiser Bedford, was acquitted on a charge of negligence, but was found guilty on a charge of default, whereby the ship was stranded, and was dismissed his ship.
THE PORCUPINE fiOLD RUSH. Reecived 19, 12.35 a.m. Ottawa, November 18. It is officially reported that no deaths occurred in the Porcupine rush, though the men encountered great hardships, and many are starving.
CANADIAN POLITICS. Received 1!), 12.35 a.m. Ottawa, November 18. The Speeeli from the Throne foreshadowed Bills for the construction of a railroad to Hudson's Bay and a revision of the copyright laws. It expressed the hope that reciprocity would . soon be achieved. The debate on the address-in-reply will be taken on Monday. THE PANAMA CANAL. Received 1!), 12.325 a.m. New York, November IS. President Taft, on returning from Panama, said he was pleased with the progress of the canal works.
