SOUTH AFRICANS IN SYDNEY. \ By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. Received 17, 8.45 p.m. Sydney, November 17. The South African cricketers have arrived. They were officially welcomed by the Lord Mayor in the Town Hall, who said the welcome was particularly heartfelt because it meant another link in the chain which bound the Empire together. They had come to a country full of love and admiration for the sister children of the Motherland, and if they won a feeling of keen admiration would be added to the bond of kinship. Speeches in response eulogised the . Australians' hospitality and sportsmanlike qualities. The visitors were subsequently welcomed by the Cricket Association. Mr. Sherwell declared that the Australian cricket grounds were the best he had ever seen. The weather is fine and hot, and a fast wicket is promised for to-morrow's match.
