Received 18, 12.10 a.m. Sydney, November 17. , In the Merchant Service Guild case, Mr. McDonald, secretary of the Steamship Owners' Association, contended that probably increase of wages had been the cause of the cost of living going up. The boot trade was an instance of this. The President of the Arbitration Court declared that he had no hesitation in saying that, knowing all the circumstances of the case, the increased price of boots was not occasioned by the increase of wages.
