WELLINGTON SESSIONS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. In the Supreme Court to-day John Harrison, on a charge of robbery and violence, was sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment, and Ernest White, on a charge of assault, to six months' imprisonment. THE WELLINGTON SESSIONS. Wellington, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day three ilaxmill hands —John Eamshaw, Henry Robert Hunt and Leslie Ellis were charged with having broken and entered the Levin Hotel with intent to commit a crime therein, and with having broken and entered the hotel and stolen a safe valued at £ls and the contents ther'eoi, including £OO 13s 3y»cl in money, cheques amounting to £55 9s Id, five gold rings valued at £23 10s, and various other articles. The jury returned a verdict of guilty against Earnshaw and Hunt, the foreman intimating they could not agree so far as Ellis was concerned. His Honor instructed them to retire, and further consider the case ox Ellis. On returning an hour and a half later, the foreman intimated that there was no chance of an agreement. Permission was granted for the re-trial of Ellis during the present sittings, Earnshaw and Hunt being remanded until ■Saturday for sentence.
A young man named Thomas Duffy was charged with having, with intent, to defraud, obtained goods and chattels to the value of £l4O from Norman Edward Aitken by delivery of certain promissory notes, such notes purporting to have been endorsed by Bernard Duffy, his father. The jury found accused not guilty.
