WHITELEY MEMORIAL CHURCH
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. The conversazione held last night in celebration of the anniversary of the Whiteley Memorial Methodist Church was largely- attended, and was an enjoyable function. Set speeches and reports were conspicuous by their absence,! the Rev.. Mr. Chapman p>«siding at a j truly social gathering. The financial proceeds are to be devoted to providing! additional ventilation for the church, and the amount realised by the anniversary movement will go far to complete the works which were considered expedient, During the evening a programme of musical items was rendered, the following being a list of the performers: Liederkranz, chorus; songs by Mrs. Ritchie, Misses Ward, Ford, Clarke, Messrs. Haslam, Clarke, Asher, and a duet by Misses Buckman. All these items were thoroughly appreciated, encores being the rule rather than the exception. A recherche supper was not die least pleasurable part of the proceedings.
