The Thistlebrcok (not Thistlebank) wharf laborers' demand was for an increase to Is 5d an hour and Is 10'/ 3 d for overtime, starting from to-day. The negotiations resulted in a compromise. The Steamship Owners' Federation is conceding the rates cabled yesterday pending a conference at which the claims for increased wages of men working all ports in Australia will be submitted.
