HIS COUNTESS ATTEMPTS SUICIDE.

received 13. 5.5 p.m. London, November 12. Renter's St. Petersburg correspondent reports that Count Tolstoi, accompanied by his physician, disappeared on October 10 for a destination unknown. He wrote that he was spending his remaining days in solitary retirement, asked his wife not to seek him, and begged forgiveness for the grief he might cause her.
The countess is in despair, and twice attempted suicide by drowning irl a hole made in the ice.
