PETROLEUM NEWS.

Drilling is to be commenced to-day at the Taranaki Petroleum Company's No. 5 bore. No. 2 bore continues to flow oil. Mr. O'Dowda, the head driller of the Standard Oil Company's bore on Caning ton road, reports that indications aw now more favorable than at any bore he has worked. The bore is down 3100 feet. Sandstone country, which is "standing up" without easing, is at present penetrated.
