HARBOR BOAEb. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The usual monthly meeting of the fioard was held on Friday evening, there being present: Messrs. Stubbs (chairman), Wilson, Chappell, Spurdle and Foreman.

The Minister for Marine forwarded a copy of the new Harbors Bill. Messrs. Hatrick and. Co. wrote, acknowledging their appreciation of the Board's kindness in granting tliem the use of part of the wool store during the time thev were erecting a store. The same firm applied for a month!} account, which was granted. The Waitara Rowing Club asked for permission to put a landing stage on the river bank opposite the shed. Ou the motion of Messrs. Spurd'.e and Jenkins, the application was granted. The New Zealand Shipping Compn'n wrote, stating that the first wool boat would load at Waitara during the firsi week in December, and asking if anything had been done to facilitate loading at the wharf.

The chairman said the matter would receive the necessary attention. Messrs. Roy and Nicholson wrote, on advice, that the Board had full powers of leasing. Burgess. Fraser and Co. wrote, accepting the Board's offer for new lease. The necessary resolution granting the lease was passed. Messrs. Wynyard and C'ossar applied for a transfer of the lease of the Club Hotel to Mrs. Fairweather and W. .)". Potter.—On the motion of Messrs. Jenkins and Spurdle the transfer was granted, subject to all being in order after perusal'by Mr. J v . B. Roy. Messrs. Wood Bros, wrote, accepting the Board's lease of a portion of the store held by them. Mr. E. H. Stubbs asked for permission to surrender his present lease and take one on the new.conditions. Messrs. Hatrick and Co. asked if the Board intended leasing the triangular piece of land opposite the store. The Harbors Association forwarded v. legal opinion on the portion of the Board in regard to their liability i-n regard to life saving accidents. _ Accounts amounting to £217 (is la were passed for payment. The matter of an increase in the salary of E. B. Laing was held over till ! next meeting, the Board to inspect the work done under his supervision. Tt was resolved to call for tenders for the beach gravel, the Board reserving the right to obtain gravel for the bridge. The secretary reported that some ten ants were behind in their rents—Tt was resolved to call the attention of the tenants to the fact of the overdue rents, and inform them that unless the amounts are paid by next meeting summonses will be issued for its recovery. The matter of the erection of a. powder magazine was referred to the Works Committee.

The Board went into committee to open tenders for the erection of the wharf, but made no report.
