BETTER OBSERVANCE URGED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. The Sunday Observance Committee recommended the formation of a Sunday Alliance for the co-ordination of the efforts of all churches, labor and other organisations to secure and preserve for every individual in the community one day of rest, and to reduce Sunday labor to a minimum consistent with the exigencies of necessity ana mercy, and where Sunday labor proved a necessity to secure for the worker j some other day in the week as a day of rest. Several suggestions were adopted for directing attention to the need for better observance of the Sabbath and the exclusion of sport on that day. Is was resolved to instruct all congregations to petition the Government for legislation for the better observance oi the Lord's Day, the Sabbath Observance Committee to outline points upon which legislation is required.
