TRAMWAY MEN'S GRIEVANCES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 12, 12.15 a.m. Sydney, November 11. A tramway employees' deputation asked* Mr. McGowen to abolish the eyesight test and substitute a practical test, statins that many had failed on the color "test through ignorance, and not color-blindness. They also asked that the Appeal Board Act be amended to provide for an independent chairman and a tramway representative on the board; that all cars be provided with covered-m fronts, and that employees be paid when absent through sickness. Mr. McGowen was sympathetic, but pointed out that these were matters of- administration, and promised to refer them to the Commissioner.
