ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. A young man named William Henry Edwards, residing in Ward street, Addington, attempted to commit suicide this morning. It appears that Edwards had become despondent, consequent on his wife and child having left him, an<\ he decided to end his misery by cutting his throat. He sharpened a large knife, but ultimately changed his mind, .ana prepared a solution of match-heads, which he drank. A neighbour found him suffering from the effects of this draught. Medical sid was procured. Edwards is to lie charged with attempting to commit suicide.
