A a meeting of the local branch 01 the A.S.R.S., for the purpose of protesting against the proposed official recognition by the Government of the Locomotive Society, a resolution was carried to the effect that in view of the attitude of the Railway Parliamentary Committee in recommending Government recognition of the Engine-Drivers', Firemen's and Cleaners' Society, this branch enters an emphatic protest against such recommendations. Timaru, Last Night. The Timaru branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants carried unanimously a resolution protesting against the recognition, of the En-gine-Drivers', Firemen's and Cleaners' separate organisation, and have sent a copy of the resolution to the chairman of the Railway Committee of the House and the local member of Parliament. Westport, Last Night. At a meeting of the New Zealand Locomotive Engine-Drivers' and Cleaners' Association (Westport branch) tonight, the following resolution was passed: "That the members of this branch of the E.F.C.A. are determined to fight for recognition and emancipation, and no effort of the A.S.R.S. will ever coerce or induce them to becorhe members of that body."
