GOLD MINING.
MILLS REWARD COMPANY. The statutory meeting of the above company was held in the borough chambers yesterday at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Elvvin presided, and there was a fair attendance of shareholders. The chairman stated that as little was known by the shareholders of the mine, it was considered desirable that someone should visit the property, ana accordingly Mr. Campbell, who was a practical miner, and himself were authorised to inspect. The report which they had prepared was then read, concludin'g as follows: "We congratulate the shareh6lders on the possession of a mine which, with even present developments, will pay working expenses and interest as soon as a battery is installed, and which every appearance indicated will, with reasonable expenditure, develop into a highly valuable property." (The full text of the report is crowded out of this issue.) Mr. Cock said he was very pleased to hear the report, as it bore out the opinion he had previously formed. He hoped the directors would now make a call and get to work at once.
On the motion of Mr. Cock, seconder by Mr. Goldwater, a hearty vote ol thanks was accorded to Messrs. Ehvin and Campbell for their report. i Mr. Campbell said it would be a great pity if work was not proceeded with energetically, as wherever lie inspected he was able to find gold clearly visible in the stone. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS. The following were elected permanent directors: Messrs. W. Birdling, Campbell, R. Cock, J. J. Elwin, A. Jones, Mills and Smith. A hearty vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
