THE PALMERSTON SHOW
OPENING DAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. The Manawatu A. and P. Association's spring show opened to-day in fine weather. There was a good attendance. Judging was confined to pigs, poultry and home industries. The poultry classes were confined practically to local exhibitors, though C. L. Bridges, of Aramoho, and James Reed, of Masterton, were both prize-winners. Monckton and Tetch, of Feilding, and J. H. Sellers, of Okaiawa, won championships in Berkshire pigs. The re was a varied programme of competitions, including horse-shoeing, a stockmen's event, a motor race, driving, etc. The maiden hunters' leaping competition was won by J. B. Gaisford, with Ranter. Twenty-five competed. The show of farmers' separator and non-sepa-rator butter is excellent. The first award for separator butter was secured by W. Henson, Raumai, and for non-separator by Miss J. Balsillie, of Palmerston. The first prize for home-made bread, for which there were twenty entries, was. obtained by Mrs. Palmer, Levin.
