Lieutenant Sutor lias been removed from the Army, the King having no further occasion for fliis services. THE SOUTH WALES STRIKE. Received 2, 0.30 p.m. London, November 2. The South Wales strikers are marching from pit to pit to persuade workers to join. They received a mixed reception at several collieries. The strikers also demand a conference to consider a general strike. WHERE THE SHOE PINCHES. Received 2, 10.25 p.m. London, November 2. A red circular accompanying the boilermakers' ballot-paper shows that the balance to the credit of the general fund is £0790, and adds that it is clear that whatever the result of the lock-out, the benefits cannot be continued. MAILS DESTROYED. Received 2. 0.20 p.m. Brisbane, November 2. A railway mail truck was burnt at Cloncurry, and the mails destroyed. TELEPHONE IMPROVEMENTS. Received 2, midnight. .Sydney, November 2. Mr. Brain, who was commissioned by the Government to report upon the American automatic telephone system, states that it is much more satisfactory than the common battery.
