Their batting is resolute and bright, and their bowling is showed to possess strong ana varied attack. VICTORIA v. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Received 30, 5.5 p.m. Adelaide, October 30. In the cricket match, Victoria v. South Australia, Victoria's first innings realised 111 runs. Armstrong 35, Hazlitt 30, and Laver 19 were the chief scorers. Whitty captured four wickets for 41, Crawford 5 for 42. South Australia have lost eight wickets for 135—Rees 16, C. Hill 26, Chamberlain 24, Crawford (not out) 31. Service made a disastrous commencement, losing the first five wickets for 20 runs. Bowles, however, raised the hopes of the Service supporters by knocking several successive balls to the boundary, and quickly accumulating 54 runs. Then he was caught by Clapham. Hill, Elliott and Lusk all bowled well. Law also made a bad start, three men being run out;, and by the time the ninth wicket fell only 58 runs had been scored. The last "man" was a very youthful one. Hill, however, smartly managed to secure most of the bowling, and, opening out, he scored quickly, driving several balls to the boundary. He did not long survive his making of the winning hit. Girling and Dinniss were the most successful bowlers. Scores:—
