There is still a good demand for the preference shares iu the Taranaki Petroleum Co. At the directors' meeting last night 04.) were allotted. The manager reports that at No. j> bore the derrick has been erected and the machinery placed in position. He expects to be in readiness to commence boring operations on Wednesday next. At No. 2 there is no abatement in the flow of oil. At Xo. 1 bore both the day and night shifts are pushing on with the reaming and easing of the bore. A Nelson fruitgrower has written to the Taranaki Petroleum Company as follows:—'-The crude petroleum'supplied 'by you has given every satisfaction for fruit tree spraying purposes. It is of splendidly clean quality, leaving absolutely no scum or sediment when properly emulsified, which is easily effected."
