Gardiner's Baron Fyvie and Daisy Bell, which also took specials as walkers. Hackneys were a good lot, the chief prize for entires going to J. Withell's imported Londcsbro. In thoroughbreds S. ' Dunedin, Last Night. The twenty-sixth annual meeting of the Drapery Importing Company was held this afternoon, Mr. E. Hallenstein presiding. The annual report stated that the profits for the year were £17,689 5s Sd, which, with £4316 13s 9d brought forward, made a total of £22,005 19s°5d to the credit of the profit and loss account. An interim dividend at the rate of six per cent, on preference shares for the half-year ended February 20 absorbed £3710, leaving £17,255 iOs 5d available for division. The directors recommended a. dividend at the rate of six per cent on preference shares for the halfyear ( £3750), a dividend of six per cent, on ordinary shares ( £6368 17s lid), the balance to be carried forward, less a bonus of 2 1 /, per cent, to shareholders on the amount purchased (£8139 Is 6d). In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman said the profits for the year were about £2IOO greater than those for the previous year. The balance carried forward was just about sufficient to pay a full year's dividend on preference shares. The past year had not been as trying for the Dominion as the previous year. Money had been easier and the volume of business probably somewhat greater. With the good seasons and good prices realised for produce, and the favorable prospects for the coming season, they might look forward with confidence to the future. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Messrs L. Hallenstein and M. L. De Beer were re-eleeted directors, and Mr. J. S. Mclnnes was appointed auditor. AXEMEN'S PRIZE MONEY. Greymouth, Yesterday. The State Collieries sports committee are including in the Christmas programme a handicap chopping competition for £IOO, the largest prize ever offered in the Dominion. [The Axemen's Cup, at the Axemen's Carnival at Eltham, was worth £l4O last year.]
