AMUSEMENTS.
"DOROTHY." The members of the New Plytfioutk Operatic Society, who are making their debut dn comic opera with Alfred Cellier's "Dorothy," on November 3 and 4 next, are all hard at work with thendifferent parts, and, judging from the progress they are making, great things may be expected. One of the worst features of an amateur performance is the appalling waits which usually occur between the acts, but it is confidently expected that the coming productions of "Dorothy" will prove that ill this respect at least amateurs can challenge comparison with professional companies. Mr. Harry Brooks, of the Theatre Royal, is in charge of the scenery, and with the capable staff under his direction should do away with the boring delays that often make an amateur show so tiresome. The box plan opens at Collier's this morning at 8.30, and, judging from the number of tickets sold,°a very large booking is expected.
