MISHAPS AT SEA
STEAMERS IN COLLISION. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. London, October z-k. The Sussex reached Las Palmas after a collision with the steamer Newstead. The repairs to the forepeak of the Sussex will occupy six days. WIRELESS CALL FOR AID. Vancouver, October 24. A wireless call for aid has been received from the tank steamer Oklahoma. Her whereabouts are unknown, but several steamers are now searching for her. PASSENGER STEAMER WRECKED. Capetown, October 24. The Portuguese liner Lisbon, with 250 passengers aboard, was wrecked near Paternoster Point. Three English passengers were drowned. The rest were saved.
HEAVY LOSS OF LIFE. Received 25, 10.10 p.m. Ottawa, October 25. The steamer Regulus, in the intercolonial trade between New York and Newfoundland, broke her shaft in the Bay of Bulls. When taken in tow, the cable parted in a storm, and the Regulus was wrecked in a fog in Shoal Bay. Nineteen of the crew were swept overboard and were drowned.
