WAITARA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Thursday next at 3 o'clock has been fixed on for the official turning-on of tlie Waitara water supply. A number or invitations have been sent outside, and all those locally interested have a general invitation. His Worship the Mayor will entertain the gentlemen, and the Mayoress will entertain the ladies after the ceremony in the Clifton Rowing Club's Hall. The Fire Brigade will give i a display during the day. On the same day a b'icyele race from Waitara to New Plymouth takes place, there being no less than forty-one entries. The Band is turning out on Thursday afternoon, so that with the turning on of the water supply, bicycle race°and very probnbly boating, it \vill be quite a gala afternoon. The North Taranaki Mounted Rifles j parade on Thursday afternoon at 111glewood, and 011 the following Thursday will open the new range. They intend also to have military sports on New Year's Day.
