ALLEGATIONS AGAINST A BOOKMAKER. By Telegraph.-—Press Association. Wellington, Monday ._ As a sequel to an incident on the racecourse at Trentham on Saturday, Victor McDuff, a young man, was brought before the Police Court to-day on four informations of theft and one of obscene language. It is alleged that he obtained a license to act as a bookmaker under false representations and did not settle up with his clients. It, was stated in evidence that accused acted similarly at Whangarei. The case was partly heard and adjourned till Wednesday.
