Mr, Short, the King's trumpeter, the adjudicator at the Ballarat competitions, stated that he would like to hare the Wanganui Band engaged for twelve months to illustrate the mind and musical material available in Australasia. Ballarat, October 24.
Wanganui's win of the championship was very popular. The points scored "were: —Wanganui, test 174, own choice 222. Prahran scored 208 and 180; Collingwood 198 and 182. In the quickstep Wanganui scored 153 points, Prouts 152, Ballarat City 145. B Grade—The selection was won by the Geelong Harbor Trust Band, and the quickstep by Prouts. C Grade.—Selection, Geelong Harbor Trust; quickstep, Geelong Town. AN APPRECIATIVE RESOLUTION. Palmerston N., Last Night. At a meeting of the North Island Band Contest Committee last night, the president, Mr. J. A. Nash, moved—''That the N.1.8.8.A. place on record its appreciation of the meritorious win of the Wanganui Band at Ballarat, and that a congratulatory telegram be sent to the conductor and Mr. Wade.
