LATE SPORTING

O>NI''I£RENCE OF COUNTY CLUBS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A representative meeting of delegates of country racing clubs was held in the Town Maid this evening, 34 clubs being represented. Mr. A. Bruce, president of the Thames Jockey Club, was voted to the chair. The meeting was not open to the press. The following resolution was unanimously this meeting of representatives of country clubs throughout New Zealand is unanimously of opinion that the reduction of totalisator perniits as provided by clause 5 of the (laming Act Amendment Bill is not only opposed to the best interests of racing clubs, but is tinjustilied, as, although the population of the Dominion has largely increased and new districts have been opened up and rapidly settled upon iluring the last ten years, the number of totalisator permits during the same period has been materially reduced; and we therefore urge that no further reduction in the number of permits be made.' There was considerable discussion 011 the proposal in the Bill to reduce the number of racing days, and a mittee of four was set up -to give evidence before the Parliamentary Committee, definite instructions being given them in regard to the question. The committee comprises: Messrs O'Malley (Ceraldine), Saunders (Riverton). Bruce (Thames) and Alison (Takapuna). MASTERTON AOCE PTANCES. Masterton, Last Night.
