TOBACCONISTS AND PUBLICANS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N., Last Night. A meeting of the local Hairdressers' and Tobacouists' Association to-night decided to support the movement for a Co license fee; also that unless local holelkeepers agreed to abandon altogether the sale of tobacconists' goods, those present pledged themselves to work in the interests of prohibition. The secretary was instructed to ask the eo-operation of other branches of the Association in the same direction. A DISTORTED REPORT. Wanganui, Last Night. In the course of an interview with a Chronicle representative to-day, Dr. Henry was questioned regarding the report going the rounds of the press relative to his final address at VVaihi. Dr. Henry's explanation put a totally dill'erent complexion on the report, which he said is distorted and fundamentally untrue. The missioner concluded: "During my 30 years' experience, I have never replied to newspaper criticism, and so far as I am personally concerned would not do so now; but if the telegraphed report is going to influence the work, then for the work's sake T am glad to make this explanation." DUNEDIN RAND CONTEST. Dunedin, Last Night, At the band contest the final test selection was played to-night before, a very large audience. The contest resulted in Kaikorai being placed first with 27N points, Woolston second with 273. Lyitelton Marine and Dunedin Oifi/ms -tied for third with 2fi7 points, and Mornington fourth with 2(i.'i points.
