Mr. Balfour, speaking at Glasgow, said that the relative inferiority of the English licet to the state of things live years ago must be cured immediately, if not out of the finances of the year, then by loans. FIVE CRUISERS ORDERED. London, October 19. The Admiralty have placed orders for five cruisers of the Yarmouth class with John Brown and Co., of Clydebank, Beardmore, of London, the Glasgow Engineering? Company, Cammell's, and Viekers, Maxim and Co. All will he fitted with Parsons' turbines except the one ordered from Brown and Co., -which will have the Curtis turbine. The Pall Mall Gazette says the cruisers include those for Canada, Australia and New Zealand. THE DESTINATION OF THE VESSELS. Received 21. 1> a.m . London, October 20. The five new cruisers will be of the Yarmouth class, and have a speed of 26 knots. Surmises regarding the destination of these is based only on two cruisers of the Town class included in the Estimates. The Morning Post believes all five are intended for Australia, Canada and j New Zealand; otherwise they would have been in the Estimates.
